Welcome to HopeSpace

We support children and young people from Galway City and County who are negatively impacted by grief

What do we do at HopeSpace?

We provide a free one-to-one listening service for grieving children (aged 4-17 years), in a confidential, warm, caring and supportive environment in our Centre in Galway City. A trained volunteer helps children address their emotions around grief, helping them to understand that grief is a normal reaction to loss and all their emotions are normal.

How does our service help?

  • Provides a critical early intervention service

  • Helps children to express emotions around grief

  • Improves coping skills and self-esteem

  • Facilitates positive parent-child relationships

  • Encourages parent-child communication

  • Reduces parental stress and worry
