Opportunities at HopeSpace

Working with HopeSpace, in either a paid or volunteer role, will challenge you and inspire you. We are always interested in hearing from people who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and families.

If you feel that you can contribute to HopeSpace, please contact us by email at info@hopespace.ie or call us at 091 342566. We will be happy to hear from you.

We are currently recruiting for the following roles:

  1. Volunteers

Volunteers

Our volunteers are:

  • Open-minded and empathetic; non-judgmental and accepting of others and comfortable with their own feelings

  • Able to maintain a friendly and supportive atmosphere

  • Discreet and maintain confidentiality; never sharing anything they are told or hear and outside HopeSpace (unless they are directed to)

  • Accepting. They do not discriminate against anyone for any reason, including religion, race or disability

  • Aged 18+

  • Haven’t suffered a recent significant bereavement or loss

It is desirable (but not essential) that our volunteers have;

  • A background of working with and supporting children/young people e.g. teacher, play therapist, counsellor, youth worker, social worker, psychotherapist

  • Experience of bereavement support/working with bereaved children/families

  • Personal experience of bereavement

Time Commitment

Volunteers typically commit to three hours a week though we understand this may not always be possible. The exact amount of time depends on how busy HopeSpace is, but we rely on everyone to ‘do their bit’ so that we can be there for children and young people when they need us. Our volunteers also attend monthly team meetings and participate in occasional training.
